hey guys. me and the gf made a trip to london from sweden, and of course we visited places related to the fab four, and some other great sixties locations.
first we went to savile row number 3. awesome. i listened to "get back", standing on the street. hehe.
then we went to the place where the former marquee club was situated. there is a restaurant that you can see to the left in the picture, that was the place of the actual club. where i am standing, by the doors, was the entrance.
"terry meets julie..."
abbey road!
then nearby, about 5 minutes walk from abbey road, cavendish avenue number 7. paul owns this house, but is rarely seen here. he bought it in 1965 i think.
coffee at the beatles coffee shop, st john's wood.
decca studios, west hampstead. i talked to the man by the door, but he wasn't sure if the beatles had their first audition here. weird. so he asked another man and he just kept talking about the rollling stones and their decca years. isn't this well known in musical history?
in this building, to the right next to decca, was the place of the club klooks kleek. classic.
chapel street 24, brian epstein lived here, and died here. he also had many parties, one example is the party to celebrate the release of sgt. pepper.
just around the corner is the place of the horse & groom pub. the beatles and brian visited this pub reguraly, on weekly basis for a couple of years.
just a minute away, on chester street. brian jones had an apartment here, on the bottom floor.
and the last one, the apartment of legendary producer joe meek.
i also have some small video clips of these places: abbey road: cavendish avenue:
kathy, i’m lost,” i said, though i knew she was sleeping i’m empty and aching and i don’t know why
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."
"Jimmy was a cool guitar player. Henry (McCullough) had been too, but Jimmy seemed a bit special." - Paul McCartney
And thanks for showing #7 Cavendish Ave. I was there, but it was a dark night and I wasn't sure I was in the right place. Now, I know I was. Whew!
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007
