I've lost all respect for Ringo now. If he's too busy to take a few seconds to sign his name for the people who have helped to put him where he is today, then I'll be too busy to sing his praises in the future.
'Peace and love' also means respect, and it seems he's lost that particular virtue for us. As I have for him.
'Did you ever hear of the Seattle Seven? That was me.... and... six other guys.'
Maybe he's ill. Maybe he's fed up of seeing his signature on ebay. Maybe he's thinking of retiring. It's his decision and I think we should respect it. He's given us a lot and doesn't owe us anything.

Fine, if he's ill, maybe he should say so. If he's thinking of retiring, he should say so. But to say 'I'm not signing anything else, don't send fan mail' and not give a reason for it is a slap in the face to his fans.
Yes, he's given us a lot but we've also given him fame, fortune and respect. Life is a two-way stream.

When I first heard about this, it made me wonder if Ringo was ill too, or if he is having some personal problems at home. Plus, he is getting older now and it's probably getting very tiring to sign tons of mail. It would have been nice if he explained his reasons for his decision, but it could be something personal and even stars need their privacy. I doubt that he is doing this to be disrespectful to fans. I just hope all is well with Ringo!

Put yourself in Ringo's shoes. I am sure after all those years, you'd get a bit tired of it also.
"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."
"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."
"Jimmy was a cool guitar player. Henry (McCullough) had been too, but Jimmy seemed a bit special." - Paul McCartney
I'm not happy about this, but I am willing to wait and see if he will offer an explanation in the future.
Since none of us know his reasons for this, I would rather give Ringo the benefit of the doubt instead of being upset with him.
Fair enough, but it's the way he put it. 'I'm warning you all with peace and love', 'it'll be tossed'.
And I'm upset with him because I've bought his records, seen his concerts and supported him through the years. You guys may not feel betrayed but I certainly do.

I'm really sorry you're feeling so bad. I am sure there are other Ringo fans that feel the same way you do. I just hope Ringo will someday provide a satisfactory explanation for this.
Have you ever tried writing to him to get him to sign something? If so, did he reply?
I've written to both Paul and Ringo a few times over the years but never had a reply. I'm not too sore about it because I realise they get lots of fan mail, but it's the principle. From Ringo's message, he gave me the impression that he just couldn't be arsed any more, and I'm not even mentioning his recent reactions to Liverpool.
Anyway, meh. If that's his position then that's his position. If he's ill then I'll help myself to a very large slice of humble pie, but if he's adopted this attitude because he doesn't care any more then I'm eBay bound to sell my Ringo stuff.

It never occurred to me that he would answer mail in the first place, so I guess it's not an issue for me. However, I still don't think it's something to get worked up over. I'd be tired of it too if people had been sending me stuff for 50 years. At least he's given everyone fair warning. Besides, he didn't say he'll never sign another autograph in his life, just not in the mail. I'll worry about his attitude when he starts hitting fans at the shows or something. He says he has things to do, and I respect that. No big deal.
What an odd thing to do. People will send him stuff anyways. Of course, as Ringo says he will toss it but I imagine that is what happens to most fan mail for alot of celebrities anyways.
